I am thankful for my daughter, and her fantastic and silly sense of humor!!!
I caught only a few minutes of a program of Oprah in her final season. That question has been going through my head ever since. The point was that everyone wants to feel valued, or important, and it is an essential component in building a strong relationship, (not to mention the effect it has on self-esteem).
So I ask myself repeatedly: when my kids walk in to the room, do they feel right away how happy I am to see them and be with them? Do they see how special I truly think they are, or how happy I am that they were given to me? I really feel like my kids are an amazing blessing! So I hope the see that my eyes do light up when I see them!!!
Bottom line is: everyone wants to feel like they matter.
